Neck pain generally starts from either trauma or bad posture.
In the case of trauma, many of our clients have traced it back to a car or sporting accident that could have been 10 to 20 years ago and wasn’t treated properly at the time. For those with bad posture, they tend to find that the pain just gradually build up over years of sitting in front of the computer screen or leaning over a conveyor belt in a factory. Sometimes they find the pain starts to spread across the shoulder and down into the arms and fingers. They get woken up in the middle of the night because of having pins and needles sensations.
In any event, a lot of times there are reasonable treatments that are available to help.
A study showed that people suffering from degeneration (arthritis) and radiculopathy (referred pain down the arm) experienced immediate relief following chiropractic care.
Another study found strong evidence for pain reduction, improved function following treatment consisting of exercise and manipulation.
